Modern orthodontics today provides us with extraordinary possibilities in the correction of various orthodontic irregularities. Splints (so-called night guard) they are most often used in the case of bruxism (unconscious gnashing of teeth) most often during the night and bruxomania (conscious gnashing of teeth in the waking state). They are used in order to reduce abrasion and protection of dental tissues, reduce the load on the supporting tissues of the teeth and reduce better in the jaw muscles.
They are also used by athletes to reduce the possibility of tooth injury and wear (usually only the upper jaw).
Retention splint (retention foil)
After the completion of orthodontic therapy, it is necessary to make a retention splint in order to prevent the possible return of the tooth to the position before the placement of the fixed prosthesis.
